ILOILO CITY – Adjudication of more than 1,000 market stalls at the Iloilo terminal market will soon be completed. City mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog will thereafter award the certificates of occupancy to the qualified stall owners and occupants.
Market Committee spokesman, city legal officer Dan Dinopol, said adjudication and subsequent awarding of stalls will follow the legal process and restructuring of policies and regulations implemented in all seven city public markets here.
Dinopol pointed out that the restructuring will include the One Family-One Stall policy, repair and rehabilitation of the market and removal of structures obstructing the passageways in the market.
The market committee has also considered as top priority for adjudication and eventual awarding of certificates to the present occupants and possessors of stalls aside from the original owners.
The terminal market, popularly known as the supermarket, was the first to undergo evaluation and validation, abd eventual adjudication, of market stalls including tables of transient vendors..
Dinopol admitted the market committee has already completed adjudication of more than 90 percent of the stalls and this time, the certificates are being prepared for the stallholders signifying their lawful occupancy of assigned stalls.
On the other hand, the evaluation and adjudication of stalls at the Iloilo central market is ongoing and expected to be completed before the end of the year.
Dinopol said the city government will not hesitate to file administrative and criminal cases against employees found guilty of nefarious activities in the market including issuing of spurious receipts and facilitating clandestine awarding of stalls and market spaces.
